AURORA, Colo.—The Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition (CCIC) is pleased to announce a new grant in the amount of $9,300 from Healthier Colorado to support CCIC’s grassroots parent engagement and advocacy project, Colorado Parents for Vaccinated Communities (CPVC).

Colorado Parents for Vaccinated Communities is a cohort of Colorado parents who support and advocate for pro-science vaccine policy with the goal of keeping Colorado children and communities protected from vaccine-preventable disease. At a local level, CPVC parents work to educate other parents, school administrators and community members about the benefits of vaccines and the importance of transparent community vaccination rates. CPVC parents also participate in legislative outreach, engaging with Colorado leaders to advocate for pro-vaccine policy. CPVC plans to use the funding from this grant to grow and expand these efforts.

“At Healthier Colorado, we strive to elevate the health of all Coloradans through an array of public policy efforts,” said Jake Williams, executive director of Healthier Colorado. “We’re proud to support CCIC and their partnership with CPVC, whose public policy work surrounding vaccines is imperative to securing population health in our state.”

“CPVC parents work hard to educate our communities about the importance of vaccination coverage rates to herd immunity and overall public health,” said Sundari Kraft, Denver founder of CPVC and mother of two. “With one in four Colorado children underimmunized, we have some work to do and we are grateful to organizations like Healthier Colorado that recognize and support the vital role that CPVC and its members play in Colorado’s efforts to increase vaccination rates.”
