Aurora, Colo. -- The Colorado Children’s Immunization Coalition (CCIC), the statewide non-profit organization dedicated to improving childhood immunization rates, announced today that four new members have been elected to serve on its Board of Directors.
Joining the CCIC Board of Directors are Amanda Dempsey, MD, MPH, Bill Jaeger, MA, Ed.M, Daniel Lyons, PhD, and Jamie Reesman. Their terms will last through August 2018.
“CCIC is pleased to welcome our four newest board members, all of whom bring talent and expertise to the Board of Directors while demonstrating the strong connection to community that is so vital to CCIC’s mission,” said CCIC Executive Director Stephanie Wasserman.
Amanda Dempsey, MD, MPH, associate professor of pediatrics, University of Colorado Denver, conducts research as a faculty member of the Children’s Outcomes Research (COR) Program, and is a primary care pediatrician at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Dempsey has studied vaccine implementation issues for the last decade, focusing on both adolescent and childhood vaccines. She earned a doctorate degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., in 2000 and completed her residency at Seattle Children’s/University of Washington in 2003. Before Dempsey began her career in January 2012 with University of Colorado, she held the positions of assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of Michigan from 2006-2011 and acting instructor for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington from 2003-2006.
Bill Jaeger, MA, Ed.M, vice president, Early Childhood Initiatives, Colorado Children’s Campaign, has spent more than a decade teaching, studying, and working on issues in public education and public policy. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a Master’s in Education from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education before working as a public school teacher and administrator in the greater Hartford, Conn., area for several years. Jaeger also holds Master’s degrees in Public Policy and Political Science and worked in several positions in the non-profit sector prior to joining the Colorado Children’s Campaign.
Daniel Lyons, PhD, equity research analyst, Janus Capital Group, hasbeen a financial supporter of CCIC and Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, for the past several years. Lyons has worked as a healthcare focused equity analyst since 2000, covering both private and public firms in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, managed care, and medical device sectors. He has a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry and Chemistry and completed a PhD at Stanford University in Immunology.
Jamie Reesman, president/CEO, Passport Health Colorado, has over 25 years of marketing, sales and operations experience in the satellite, high speed internet and television industries. Reesman joined his wife, Michelle Reesman, as co-owner of Passport Health Colorado in 2005, where he is responsible for business operations and marketing functions. As a longtime CCIC supporter, he has led Passport Health’s sponsorship of the organization’s annual fundraiser since its inception. Prior to Passport Health, Reesman held various marketing positions, including product marketing manager for Level 3 Communications, vice president of marketing for B.O.B.: Brief Original Broadcasts, director of marketing for The National Geographic Channel, the national director of marketing for High Speed Access Corp., and an area manager for Time Warner Satellite Services.
