Emily joined Immunize Colorado in September 2017 as Communications and Development Coordinator after graduating from the University of Denver with B.A.s in Strategic Communication and Socio-Legal Studies. She now serves as the organization's Communications Director and works to guide the strategy for all Immunize Colorado communications and community outreach initiatives in line with the organization's mission. Emily has always had a passion for helping young people and creating environments in which they can thrive. With her dedication to public policy, public health, social justice and purposeful communication, she works to foster community engagement and awareness for the safety and efficacy of vaccines through science-based, pro-vaccine messaging. Emily has presented on vaccine communication strategies and campaigns at local and national conferences. In her free time, you can find Emily travelling, spending time with family and friends and finding new, delicious spots to eat around Denver.

Personal Hero: My mom, as she is the most selfless, kind and strong person I know.
Hometown Fun Fact: NASA astronaut Scott Carpenter, the fourth American astronaut to go into space, grew up in Boulder, CO and went to the University of Colorado. A local park and pool named after him features a rocket-shaped climbing structure.
Favorite Thing to do in Colorado: A hike in the Rocky Mountains followed by brunch at Snooze.
Why Vaccinate: On a volunteer medical trip to El Salvador, I saw first-hand the immense health and economic benefits that immunization can have on a community. Everyone, no matter their circumstances, should have the opportunity to be protected from preventable disease so that they can lead healthy, happy lives.
